In January 2018, we wrote a case study about the Aloha Bars Maui, that was redesigned in the fall of 2017. We brought Aloha Bars Maui through another revamping in 2020.

The Goal behind all of this is to perform better when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. Give the website the best chances to rank in a niche market. So having a website perfectly optimized is the guarantee of putting all the chances on your side to perform accordingly.

We have always made sure to be as compliant with the SEO standards throughout the years. Every year algorithms change. So when we re-skinned the Aloha Bars Maui website, what we did is emphasize on compliance of the current content with the Algorithms and the Speed and Performance optimization factors.

Also, we thrived to bring a new interface. That interface needed to be compliant with mobile phones. Aloha Bars Maui’s market is mostly brides. Brides shop around for providers on their cell phones. Even though most of them have computers, at work and at home. Mobile navigation stays a priority for them.

When The X Concept provide audits, for each of our current or new clients, we look at measuring tools. We then look at where we can bring improvements. With the ranking factors and the algorithms changing consistently, it is important to stay on top of the norms. A website that is three years old and was performing just fine then, now might be missing out on ranking potential and visits because technology has not been updated.

This was the case with Aloha Bars Maui 2017 version of their website, it was based on a. great theme, but that needed a refresh so we can maximize the impact of the first page to SEO and performance standards. Also the updates of pages got difficult due to a lack of compatibility between the interface and the required tools. Therefore when the Founder, Kirsty Sinclair, was looking to add more content for brides to enjoy, it was becoming difficult to get it to display properly.

It was time for a refresh. The lifespan of a website interface for small and medium size businesses is generally around two to three years, and that’s not only studies that you can read, it’s also our experience for over 18 years.

Aloha Bars Maui 2020 Interface

When we first started to collaborate with Aloha Bars Maui, we designed their logo, business cards, etc. We then designed the logo with Lime Green accents, as it was a trendy color seven years ago. And around three years ago, Coral went to be the trend for weddings, and is still the trend currently. So the logo, as well as the website interface is now.

The previous version of the website was focusing on the bars as the primary selling point of Aloha Bars Maui, which is true, as they have beautiful custom made bars. But as much as they are looking to have a beautiful bar decor at their wedding, brides are looking to get “their drink”, their “groom’s drink”, and their guest to enjoy delicious drinks. Yes, wedding are about drinking…

That way, we developed an interface which is more “drinks” focused. Those guys make beautiful drinks, so let’s put them on the front of everything.

Local Market and Rankings

Weddings are a very local business, and even more on Maui than elsewhere. They can only operate on a limited geographical location. Even though Aloha Bars Maui had inquiries from other islands, the logistics made them deny those requests. You then have to be really sharp with local marketing. Which means Geolocalization, georgraphical keywords and referrals, and using reputation marketing networks accordingly.

Also, as you can see on the Screenshot above, that for the Google PageSpeed Score, Aloha Bars Maui scores 93% and Yahoo Yslow score, 82%. Both are very good rankings and show that the website is optimized for performance and speed.

From the screenshot below, you can see that Aloha Bars Maui is scoring a whooping 94/100 on Hubspot’s website grader, that analyzes Performance, Mobile Optimization, SEO and Security. This is the first test we perform for each audit we do, and I can tell you, that most websites we audit are below 70/100.

Aloha Bars Maui 2020

In conclusion, Aloha Bars Maui decided to go through with a redesign for 2020. It was a great idea for them so they can keep up with the performance and optimization standard. You are going to make a decision at some point regarding your website. Your website does not perform at its full potential. It is then time to look at optimization options. From back end to front end.
